The underside of the gaze

Each of these jewels draws our attention to shapes that are more than shapes, stones that are more than stones, vivacious jewels with meaning that flutter at the edge of our vision, to the underside of our gaze. This collection includes doorless portals that open to the light, to openness itself, and evoke passageways between interior and exterior: portals, mazes, eyes, reflecting pools, and the tree of life; jewels that inspire thoughts of flying through these spaces on winged textures and brightly-feathered birds; and, finally, lotus and mandala-inspired jewels that recall the center, the middle path, and others that invite upward and downward movement, like the spirals.
